‘THE HONG KONG DONG, 1/2 CHINESE’ is a socio-cultural rock ‘n road movie that submerges Sarah Yu’s & Boris’ gang into China’s sweltering underground music scene.. This is the intimate story of a half Chinese brother-sister who deal with their personal history through the expression of arts.

 

An expedition from – gateway to Europe – Hong Kong to the epicenter of a contemporary art movement in Beijing – interlaced with dancers, philosophers, techno poets, nighttime rockers, and hipsters.

Their unprecedented access in the minds and emotions of the characters they encounter are witness of universal trauma and mutual desire to explore intersections.

 

Over the void between the socialist idealism and a calamitous drive for wealth they define a critical soundtrack for post-modern China. East meets West on the pulsing and groovy beat of the counterculture.
